However, this knife has been sharpened to a total of 40 degrees (20 degrees per side) using the Swedish sharpening machine TORMEK T-8, which is not an acute angle. Despite this, the sharpness is comparable to a finely honed Japanese sword, capable of easily shaving off the fine hairs on your arm.

The steel used is AUS-8, a high-carbon stainless steel for cutting tools proudly produced by Aichi Steel in Japan. In 2025, Schrade, a British company once renowned for its bushcraft knives like the SCHF36, surprised knife enthusiasts by switching from Chinese steel to this material, which they had long used. AUS-8 is a reliable and proven steel. With a carbon content of 0.75-0.9% and 14% chromium, it also contains molybdenum and vanadium to enhance toughness and wear resistance. Reports indicate that it maintains its sharpness longer than 1075 carbon steel or 440C stainless steel, which lack these alloying elements. Furthermore, it is easy to resharpen even with common water stones, which is why it is widely used for household kitchen knives.

Although this product has a thick blade, it features a hollow grind with a relieved spine, significantly reducing the thickness near the edge. This design ensures that even after prolonged use and sharpening, the edge width will not increase, eliminating the need to re-grind the spine. At first glance, it may resemble a sword, but it has no curvature in the blade and features a choil on the ricasso, so it does not fall under the definition of sword as stipulated by the Swords and Firearms Control Law. Please utilize its length for peaceful purposes such as thinly slicing bread and cheese, filleting fish, or carving large cuts of meat. Given its size and shape, it is advisable to carry it in a bag, perhaps wrapped in a towel outside the sheath, to avoid attracting unnecessary attention from law enforcement officers. The sheath is also thick and securely holds the knife.
