Description
The label inside the inner pocket reads 10/25 (October 1925). As it is currently 2026, exactly 101 years have passed since its creation. Having surpassed 100 years as a historical document, this is not merely an old garment but a historical heritage (antique) that conveys the social scene of London in the 1920s and the highest tailoring techniques of the era.

In the 1920s, there were many tailors around Maddox Street and Savile Row in London who specialized in high-quality military and civilian clothing for army officers. Harry Everett was one of them, favored by British gentlemen and military elites of the time. This garment indicates it was a bespoke (custom-made) piece ordered in October 1925 for a client named Mr. Ricketts. The individual, Capt. J. H. L. Rickett, can be confirmed in the Army List of the time. The 1920s were a period of reorganization after World War I, and it was common for officers to commission a garment befitting their rank from these prestigious tailors.

The handmade tailcoat from a London tailor on Maddox Street 100 years ago often features intricate handwork that is difficult to replicate today, with extremely high skill condensed into buttonholes and the hassashi (a type of stitch) used for the collar. It is also extremely valuable as antique textile.

London in 1925 was in the midst of the Roaring Twenties, an era when Edward VIII (later the Duke of Windsor) reigned as a fashion leader.
