Vintage Mechanical Covered‎ Wagon With Oxen Multicolor Rhinestone Brooch 1930s

This vintage mechanical covered wagon with oxen rhinestone brooch has wheels that actually turn. The brooch shows the classic covered wagon being pulled by a pair of oxen, harking back to the history of the Oregon Trail. The wagon, oxen, and wheels are lavishly studded with bright, multicolored rhinestones. The wagon canvas, wheel hubs and oxen harness are accented with bright blue enamel. The oxen horns are painted with white enamel, and the oxen’s eyes have a tiny accent of red enamel. The brooch is a book piece, and is shown in Collectible Costume Jewelry Identification & Values by Cherri Simonds, page 140, and in Gems of Costume Jewelry by Gabriele Greindl, page 73.
